Parent Road is known by many court systems as the ONLY acceptable online training class. That's because we are affordable, we have strong accountability measures, and we provide superior support to our students. You can try to save money through another organization, but we know you will probably be back for the right reasons.
Pace of the Classes
Classes can be taken at your own pace. If you are taking a class for court, some courts may require that you attend weekly online meetings (and we can do that). However, if your situation doesn't require a schedule, take your time or get it done fast- it's up to you. You could complete our Basic format training class in under a week if you are not required to do otherwise.
Basic classes do not require a webcam and they do not require you to send us your ID (unless you have been asked to include an oral exam). Basic classes are simple, quick and affordable.
Actual Costs
Basic classes cost $40.
If you are required to attend webcam meetings, you will need to take an Advanced class which starts at $70. Each Advanced class will include at least (3) one-hour meetings, online! There are no additional costs for taking an Advanced class with us unless you have special circumstance requiring more than (3) meetings (i.e.: you need more training hours or you need to attend a class for a certain time-frame). The cost to attend each additional webcam meeting is $15.
Advanced Students: Online Meetings
Meetings are held in the morning and night throughout the week, fitting your schedule no matter what your situation.
Advanced Students: Webcam...what's that?
Major retailers like Wal-Mart carry webcams for around $20. We will show you how to hook one up and how to use it. It's EASY! The Webcam will allow you to visit with a moderator and other students taking the class. Webcams have built-in video and microphones. We insist that you use a pair of comfortable headphones too. Remember, most Advanced students only attend (3) meetings, that's it.
Anything else?
If you are taking an Advanced class or if your court needs you to take the Basic class with an oral exam, you will need to supply us with a copy of a valid photo ID. This can be faxed or emailed to us. We will provide the details later. Also, if you have special certification needs, you can tell us when we call you after you have signed up.
What are the classes like?
Most of our classes use multimedia modules including music, an interesting narrator, and questions to keep you into the learning experience. There are quizzes for each module that you can take as many times as you need. After completing your multimedia modules and your online meetings (advanced students only), you will have a Final Exam. The Final Exam can be taken as many times as you need (you will probably pass on the first try if you pay attention during class and participate). We are highly supportive and believe that all students who are motivated to be certified will have no problems getting through a class quickly.
